Back from Hong Kong
Just back from Hong Kong! Wow, it's certainly been a while since my last post! :D
What has happened since then? Hmm.. oh yeah, got my Xbox 360. Actually picked it up on launch day. Got the premium edition, plus a couple of games (PGR3, Kameo and Tiger Woods, and Stevo got me Perfect Dark Zero) and an extra wireless controller. Apart from the pretty awesome Dead or Alive 4, there hasn't been too much out there to considerable for the 360. Let's hope that they bring out some decent titles soon!
Actually replaced my trusty Toshiba A10 sub-notebook with an even smaller Sony Vaio TX17GP, which I'm using right now to write this. Still trying to get used to the smaller screen and keys.. it may look great and be very light, but I guess there is some advantage to having a bigger sized machine. ;)
Alex has been dropping my Sony Ericsson V800i mobile phone constantly these last few months (why do I let him play with it.. doh!!) and now the vibrate function doesn't work any longer. So, good excuse to get a new phone, eh? ;) Picked up a Sony Ericsson W900i, in black. Actually, I wanted to get a white one, but neither myself nor the very resourceful Cora could locate one anywhere! In the end, had to plump for the black edition, but I have to say it looks pretty darn cool. The piccies can be excellent with some decent lighting, and the video frame rate is very nice, so much better than the V800i's.
What else, hmm.. oh yeah, fell in love with the white Sony PSP, so had to get one (doh!). Very weird story about purchasing this one. I wanted to get the Gigapack, so went with Cora to Sham Shui Po. They allow you to test the unit before you purchase, and it was lucky we did too. As it turns out, the PSP's in all Gigapacks are the ones made in China (so they said). According to Stanley, these particular models don't have too many inferior parts.. except for the all-important screen. Apparently, the Japanese-made PSP's have Sharp screens, while the Chinese made ones have inferior (to some) Samsung screens. Now, I never took any heed to this.. my Dell 2405FPW has a fantastic Samsung panel in it, after all. But I was surprised to find a drop in brightness and (seemingly) clarity in the Gigapack PSP. So, decided against it and went with a Value Pack PSP instead, which had a made in Japan model. A quick test of this unit yielded much better results. I'd have never believed the report before, so it was quite surprising to find this difference. Of course, this unit may have been defective, so I guess we'll never know. Anyone out there with a Gigapack PSP want to comment?
Did get a load of Japanese PSP games over there. Of note were Taito Memories (I'm still a sucker for New Zealand Story and Elevator Action!), Street Fighter Alpha 3, Gradius Portable and the totally amazing Star Soldier. Only got one Nintendo DS game there, Animal Crossing DS, which I haven't touched yet due to the splendor that is called Advance Wars DS (may as well be glued into the card slot now!).
